The young techy studied the ornate looking dagger. It was practically a relic. Luke was slightly impressed, and it showed on his face. The way Soren spoke about the dagger made Luke feel as though there was something more too it. Hell, with the ocean of magical potential in this damn world, it very well might be a god slaying mega-dagger. Or maybe it turned into a sword. Or lit on fire. Or was a flaming sword. He was pretty phoenix-esque, fire seemed to be a fitting theme.
"Someone important to me left me something like that. It's less refined or noble as a dagger, especially an ornate looking one like that. But it's the last thing I have of him, so it's... it's pretty important to me." Luke stopped leaning back and actually sat up straight again. "So, yeah, I get placing importance on something like that. Especially if it's from someone as important as a father figure."
When The Bartender finally returned from the kitchen, he didn't really do much aside from collecting the dishes from Luke and Soren. However, before he returned back through the door, he slid Luke a thin folder. The young techy gave him a glance, but The Bartender was already walking away.
"Job for you." Was all the man said before vanishing again. Luke paused and pulled the folder over, flipping it open and scanning the paper quietly. It had a description of the job, the payment amount, contact information, really the standard for The Bartender, that is to say; all the information anyone could ever possibly need. Hm. Not bad payment. Bit of a travel. Guess I'll give her a call.
"Hey, give me a second, I need to make a call." Luke stood up and moved away from the bar into a more discrete corner. For Soren, the birdman would watch as Luke spent the next fifteen to twenty or so minutes chatting away on the ResLink with his potential client, swapping between waves of annoyance, shock, more annoyance, and finally acceptance. The young man gave a visible sigh as he hung up the call, meandering over to Soren and setting down back into his seat.
"So, you do bounties and all that shit, right?" Luke began, closing up the folder. "How's about accompanying me on a little journey? I'd pretty much only be using you for heavy lifting, but the pay will be good."
Luke rapped his fingers against the counter, using his free hand to rub the back of his neck. Dealing with clients was always a bit of a hassle. Sometimes they were chill... but generally stupid, other times they were really cocky and extremely stupid! But this one was just... really bad at giving information, and he didn't know if that was because she was stupid or if she thought that Luke wasn't worth the effort.
"This woman on the outskirts has this old piece of tech she scrounged up. She wants me to go and take a look at it, fix it up. From the looks of things I'm going to need to bring a lot of stuff along with me, and I don't think just bringing Grant along is going to cut it. You seem like a strong man, if you don't have anything lined up, think you'd be up for lending a hand?"
