Not quite spells, but somewhat similar, the Faunus are a group of beast-people who have specialised abilities based on the general animal group they represent. Though in order to use them properly for things like combat and self defense, they have to learn to hone these abilities their animalistic counterparts use all the time on instinct. Some of these are based on actual things animals are capable of, if not taking a turn in a different light to make it more than what it is. Other things are more based around what they can do with their physical selves or altering a resource they make of themselves (feathers, scales) into something else. Do note that based on certain traits shared across species, some of these will have overlap. These will still take mana like spells. Please note that while not "scientifically accurate" this is a generalised grouping to not over-complicate things. Those that have abilities unique enough can be listed by their common species name, but that will be a rare occurrence. While mythical faunus do exist, but their magic abilities will be separate from their physical attributes. Affinity strength on Faunus abilities reflect their closeness to their animalistic heritge. It will still use affinity dice rolls. Category - Animals Incorporated Feline - Cats (Inclusive of hyenas) Canid - Dogs (inclusive for bears and the Maned Wolf) Cervidae - Deer (inclusive of cows, horses, elephants, and boars to an extent) Piscene - Fish (inclusive of whales, dolphins, and most oceanic fauna) Cnidarian - Jellyfish (inclusive of Man-O-War and sea slugs) Amphibian - Frogs/Toads (inclusive of all amphibious species, including a platypus) Avian - Birds Reptiles - Lizards, Snakes, Tortoises/Turtles Rodentia - Rabbits/Hare, Mice/Rats, Beavers Hystricidae - Hedgehogs, Porcupines, Echidnas Entomon/Arachnids - Insects, Spiders, Scorpions Crustacean/Mollusk - Crab, Lobster, Clam/Mussels, Octopus/Cuttlefish/Squid

Faunus Ability: Feather Armour Main Faunus Group: Avian -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 (At base) Function: Avian Faunus have learned to use mana to harden their feathers in the form of armour. They are capable of taking hits from most hard objects and not suffering as much damage off it. The weakest armour can match that of leather, the strongest matching refined crystal or heavy armour.
Affinity - Refinement - Hit points 1 - Downy Plumage - 5 4 - First Flight Feathers - 10 7 - Moderate Plumage - 20 10 - Elaborate Plumage - 40 Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Lying Lyrebird Main Faunus Group: Avian (Sound mage proxy) -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 Function: As with most birds, Avian Faunus love to replicate noise to accent their sound more. Avian faunus that focus on this can match up to a sound mage, replicating noises they are familiar with and perfecting it over time. At the start, they are crude with noise, but can make it passable to those who are unfamiliar with the noise. They can take some added time to work on things and perfect their ability to replicate sounds, refining them and fooling those who may be familiar with the noise but not so intimately familiar with it. Those at higher affinities have an easier time to replicate sounds they hear, even those brand new to them.
Affinity- Training to perfect (Word Count) - Replication 1 - 750 - Fools those unfamiliar with noise 4 - 500 - Fools commoners/base enemies 7 - 250 - Fools Elites unless they are specialists* 10 - 100 - Impossible to determine fake sound from real sound
*Specialists often focus on a specific set of skills. If they specialise with machinery, they will understand sounds of technology more intimately. Those more familiar with fauna can discern subtle hints of a creature versus a replication. Specialists typically are with large groups in elite bounties, but have a small chance to show in intermediate ones.
Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Iron Pinions Main Faunus Group: Avian -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 Function: Avian Faunus have learned to use mana to harden their feathers to use for attack or defense. These pinion feathers can be shed and used as a crude form of armour or weaponry if needed. However, the Faunus needs to be careful when shedding feathers as they do not grow back quickly and can pluck themselves to the point where they are flightless or naked. Smaller feathers can be hardened and applied to strengthen weaker items, including other pinion feathers.
Affinity - Feather Hardness - Rounds before breaking 1 - Crude - 2 4 - Decent - 4 7 - Strong - 16 10 - Enhanced - 48 Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Feather Blades Main Faunus Group: Avian -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 Function: Avian Faunus have learned to harden and shed their feathers, making object of value for combat in the process. With these particular ones, they have taken hardened primary feathers and fashioned them into blades that work just as well as most typical blades. These ones are a lot lighter in weight, however, and can strike slightly faster or ‘glide’ a little more flatly when swinging around.
Affinity - Feather Hardness - Rounds before breaking 1 - Crude - 2 4 - Decent - 4 7 - Strong - 16 10 - Enhanced - 48 Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Scavenger Main Faunus Group: All -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 Function: Animals are capable of scavenging for food when it’s not so widely available. This allows them to survive by finding food in places that may not be so easily accessible. For the Faunus, this can also mean they can train in on finding objects or food in places one might not even think. While the drop itself is somewhat random, it’s a bit nifty for them to come across something that may have some value to it! Those with a higher affinity can find better quality items as they have a heightened sense for finding things in the most wildest of places. Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Iron Stomach Main Faunus Group: All -Alternative Faunus Groups: -- Affinity Strength: 1 Function: The Faunus that have harsher living conditions may have retained this ability better than those in the cities. Like their animal kin, they may be able to stomach things other races may find absolutely revolting. Those with a higher affinity overall are capable of stomaching things that would normally make one more than sick and not have any repercussions for it. Availability: Open
Faunus Ability: Slime Layer Main Faunus Group: Piscene -Alternative Faunus Groups: Mollusk, Amphibian Affinity Strength: 1 (at base) Function: Most aquatic fauna have a mucosal layer around their body to protect them from debris or make them slippery from grasp. Water mages and aquatiz fauna learned of this trick, coating their bodies in a specialised form of water that is thick, yet slippery to the touch. While the coating is not too great at dealing with sharp objects, it is a decent enough protector against substances that would eat it away such as acids. The slime layering their the body is also fairly decent for slipping out of some traps that clamp or slipping out of a grapple, and the thicker, the harder it is to get a hold of the user or to hurt them with dangerous liquids such as acids or toxins.
Affinity - Refinement - Hit points 1 - Basic Layering - 5 4 - Moderate Layering - 10 7 - Heavy Layering - 20 10 - Bulk Layering - 40 Availability: Open
