Information: Taken from the ranks of officers originally from the peripheral city of Blackmarsh, many of the now veteran officers were once city guard who wouldn't bend to the wills of the city's crime families, and were thus chased out. Their training is harsh and severe, and the selection process is equally strict, pushing recruits to their physical and mental limits, bordering more on military special forces training than simple guards. This is to ensure all officers are unbreakable, mentally and physically, to ensure the same corruption the survivors of the City had been chased away by does not infect this new force. As such, recruits undergo rigorous, week long psychiatric reviews and intensive interviews, and if there is even a speck of doubt, they are excluded from enlistment. The Black Monolith forces are unbreakable walls, men of massive stature and extraordinary mental fortitude. They are dedicated to their duty to protect the masses, and will sacrifice everything to ensure their job is a success, including their lives. Black Monolith forces are so successful in their endeavors, that they are deployed alongside other city guard groups, serving as advisers, commanders, and special forces, as well as being sent as anti-siege troops in defense of smaller peripheral cities. The gear set for this group is modern in styling, with certain unique flairs.
All officers of the Black Monolith have multiple pieces of standardized gear;
Uniform: The uniform of each officer is comprised of modernized body armor, bullet proof and protective against small bladed weapons and some spells. The material is fire and acid proof, and has a protective aura spell that can protect against at least one lethal attack. The uniforms are usually black and dark blue, paired with intimidating armored gas-masks with narrow, glowing yellow eyes. The gas-masks are rated to protect against most airborne hazards, magical and nonmagical. While officers are allowed to personalize both masks and helmets, higher ranked sergeants and above are distinguished by their gas-masks being white, instead of the standard black.
Riot Shield: Heavy, massive black shields capable of retracting and extending, the monolithic chunks of armor are able to protect against extraordinary amounts of damage from many various sources.
Arcane Sidearm: A specialized sidearm designed in the city of Automata with help from high ranked mages, this arcane sidearm uses raw magic from the user to determine it's lethality. As such, the rounds fired can either be nonlethal stun rounds, or fully lethal magic bullets.
Medical Kit: A standard emergency trauma kit, no replacement for a hospital or healing mage, it can still stabilize wounded.
Cuffs: Standard, magically reinforced cuffs.
Baton: A metal baton
Restrictions: Recruits must be pinnacles of mental fortitude, uncorruptable and unbreakable, with an unwavering dedication to protect the weak and innocent without being bloodthirsty. They must be able to remain calm in the face of insurmountable odds, and rid themselves of every last piece of fear of death. Bare minimum, an affinity score of 5 is required to be considered.
