The sunlight shone through a clear sky throughout the day, casting off a vibrant gold light that only seems to show in the warmest time of the year. During the longest day(s) of the year, there are cultural dances through the streets of the summer sector in a grand parade, with the dancers in many colourful and traditional pieces of attire that make them almost appear like they are living flames themselves. It's easy to tell dancers apart from civilians, sporting incredibly elaborate attire for their respective dances. After these dances have been fully preformed, they are open to conversation regarding attire and the steps themselves, explaining the significance of the dances. For characters in this topic, it can be that they're watching a dance or have watched a dance, interacting with others present at the same time. If need be, they can also be interacting with an NPC involved in the dances as well. They do not need to be involved with the dance, as they can do stuff like hang out or eat if they want to.

It had been a bit for Nienna to adjust to the new life she found herself in. Plus there were so many different people who had entirely different gods- that was a bit of a culture shock. The more bounties she went on, the more she learned about these troubled lands. No doubt her kingdom was reduced to the same chaos. Today however was filled with a lot more life and merriment. It must be a holiday... That's usually when the capital of her home got the busiest. People traveled all over to celebrate the many holidays within the kingdom. Though she had been hesitant to show her face in public crowds, it seemed her home was far from the minds of the common folk. Good... Nienna had followed the crowd of people, curiously slipping by trying to figure out what exactly was going on. What was being celebrated? What significance did this day have for everyone? She found herself being pushed to the sides of the street as a procession danced by. The dresses and silks they wore would have some nobles dying on envy back home. Her eyes grew wide at the display, filled with wonder. She was rarely afforded the luxury of blending into the crowd at a parade. Honestly, she was always marching down the streets for nearly every holiday. It was nice enjoying it was a spectator for once, just... a normal person watching it all go by. She sat in silence watching the crowd come and go as the dancers finished up the last of their routine. Nienna sighed, unsure of what to do with herself now. She could always leave- but what a wasted opportunity. Still, her feet seemed stuck to the ground at the idea of having to approach strangers. She didn't realize how anxious conversing with people made her until she was out in the open world with no one to speak to. Even those she had brief conversations with were mostly jobs. Anyone could be an assassin though, just waiting until she had her guard down to strike. This was going to get exhausting eventually.

Today was great! Bright, warm sunlight casting its golden light over Avalon and only illuminating the bright colours on the dancer's attire and really showing off how polished their golden jewelry was. It was practically blinding! Soren seemed happy, and he was! This was the season and the festival his family celebrated the most. Every year seemed to bring something more spectacular than the last. It seemed most of the midday dances were done for now. Most were in the central part of town, since that had the larger section for showy stuff. The man was orange, sporting feathery wings. His general attire was fairly loose, only covering what needed to be covered and that was really it. It wasn't overly flashy, but it was also enough to balance how orange he was as well as share the aesthetics of his home element. He just simply seemed to be strolling but noticed someone was very quiet despite the celebration around. He walked over, flashing a smile and raised his hand to greet the person. "Enjoying the festival?", he asked. It didn't hurt to talk to someone right? "Name's Soren.", the birdman said, extending the same hand used to greet towards Nienna to shake.

Needless to say, Nienna was not expecting a conversation. She wasn't expecting to be noticed at all. Company was a rare thing these days, at least for her circumstances. She didn't respond to the smile or wave at first. Honestly, she expected the greeting was for someone else amongst the thinning crowd. She blinked in confusion as he began to speak to her. Oh, oh so he WAS attempting a conversation with her. A total stranger...was that not a bit suspicious? Nienna gave him a soft polite smile as he got closer now. " It's very interesting. I've never seen a festival like it before," she replied. It was exciting to see, but also made her miss a home she could never return to. The longer she was here, the more she wished she was back. She could laugh at how impossible it was though to go home now. She had no home what was she thinking about? She reached out and shook his hand. Her grip was firm but still gentle. She had nearly gone to curtsey out of habit for introductions, thank goodness she didn't. " My name is Yvanna. It's a pleasure to meet you Soren." She had to bite back the urge to ask him why he was speaking to her at all. That would sound strange right off the bat. She would just have to use small talk for now. " Are you enjoying yourself here? Do you come to this festival often?" she asked.

Soren seemed a bit happy that Nienna was joining in the conversation. It was easily visible with his ears ans wings ruffling slightly in response. "You've never seen this festival? Well, I'm glad you're enjoying your first Pyrr Solstice Festival!" He didn't seem to question it too much. People had all sorts of ways to celebrate stuff. This only just gave him the hint that she wasn't from Avalon's capitol. "I actually live in the Ignis Reach district. I've seen every Pyrr Solstice Festival since I could first remember. They really outdo themselves every year.", he said, with a grin as big as can be. "My family isn't directly involved with the festival, but the element of fire holds a special place in our souls." Even with his mixed lineage, his soul element would always have been fire. "So what have you been enjoying most of the festival so far? The outfits? The food? The dances?", he asked. It legitimately excited and fascinated him what an outsider thought of the festivals here, but he also wanted to know of the way she celebrated this time of year if she'd share that.

" No, never..." She confirmed. It could be very likely that she may never see it again. Part of her wondered if she should move on and travel some more. Still, there was plenty to do, maybe she wasn't looking hard enough. It was a bit hard to sell oneself when your skills are no longer very relevant. " Ah so you're a true local then," she said. That could certainly be helpful. She had yet to really explore much of the capital. She was much more concerned about keeping a roof over her head and food in her mouth. Nienna found herself shuddering at the mention of fire. Her hand idly drifting up and down her arm that still held the bad burn she received from those bastards. She was so fucking useless against them. Or perhaps in general... " Ah so is this a religious holiday then?" She didn't talk to anyone to really pick up the context for the festival. She gathered it had to do with summer and fire, but that was about as much as she could discern for herself. " Well it's certainly interesting. I did enjoy watching the dances though. It was all very mesmerizing. I could see why there was such a crowd. Their outfits certainly are something... I hope the dancers get to keep them." She certainly missed being able to wear such vibrant outfits. Her closet was likely gathering moths by now... "I don't think I've had the time-" or the coin " to go and try some of the food."

Soren's smile seemed to fade a little. Yvanna had a hint of sadness to her that just dampened the cheery mood. Was she okay? "Well.... Why don't I treat a lovely lady like yourself to something?" Maybe actually having a chance to try something would help brighten her mood a bit. Although Soren did seem oblivious to the idea that his gesture could be taken as something that wasn't just genuine courtesy. "What kind of food do you like? Sweet stuff? Spicy? Mild?", he asked. Getting an idea of what she liked would narrow stuff down and not have some kind of accident like her taste buds melting or something. His wings flicked slightly again, but they were just rearranging themselves to a new comfy position. Something seemed to be on her mind, especially with her movement at the mention of fire. Something happened, but he wasn't going to pry. Especially on a stranger. The least he could do was make sure that she was enjoying herself during the festival like everyone else.

She tensed at his offer. It was kind- but there was an underlying motive to people's kindness. What would he want from her when the food was in her hands? Money? Too easy- perhaps something worse, something more degrading. She had half a mind to refuse right there. But, her stomach gave a faint gurgle and her face flushed in embarrassment. Her damn stomach betrayed her. " I'm very fond of spicy things I suppose." She could recall the spiced meats she had at home. She only really brought them out for important occasions or festivities. She supposed it would be fitting for an event like this. Nienna was never a big sweet tooth, she preferred more savory flavors. " What about yourself? Sweet or spicy?" It had been a while since she held a somewhat normal conversation. Still, she felt Sorren was likely far from normal. Not many walk up to a stranger and offer to buy them food. Plus he had an unusual appearance, but almost everyone that wasn't an elf or human struck her as a little odd. Not in a bad way of course! She just had no clue what species they were most of the time. She found it easier to keep her mouth shut about it though. Best not to offend strangers with unnecessary questions

"Spicy? Well, you're in the right place for food with a bit of heat! Right time of year too!", Soren said with a chipper tone in his voice. "Me? I like things a mix of sweet and spicy. Gives off this unique taste, y'know? Now let's see..." Soren started to mumble to himself, looking around the stalls and calculating in his head what was probably the best. Now did she mean spicy as in she wanted to burn her face off spicy or spicy as in falvourful? Maybe both? "Ah!" Soren seemed to have a lightbulb go off in his head. "Nothing better than home cooked meals, right?" Something about those were always warm, and not just talking about the spices used to make it like that. These meals were heartfelt and just made you feel cozy. "So!" He turned around to face Nienna again. "Soup, steak, sandwich? What are you feeling for?" That would help narrow things down a little.

" Oh? That's an interesting flavor combination," she said. She couldn't quite recall a meal that had such a mixture of flavors. She felt like she has perhaps tried it, but her opinion on it evades her. Her eyes follow each of the stalls. Some things were familiar to her, others she had never heard of before. She turns her gaze from the stalls to Soren as he asked her the question. " I suppose so." Most of her homecooked meals were made by professional chefs. Now though she had a habit of making her own food when she could. She did miss the taste of home though... " Hmm soup sounds interesting," she said. Though she had no clue how people would be able to travel with it and eat it...

"Is it?", he asked but after a few moments of thinking about it, he guessed she had a point. He motioned for her to come with him to a stall that was advertising a home made soup with a kind of pepper that was harvested and dried specifically to match the heat at the peak of summer.
The stall itself didn't seem high budget and the 'kitchen' section behind the counter was simple. It was a few portable stovetops and large metal pots for producing large portions of soups and other simple homemade dishes to add some variety to their menu. Soren seemed to take a moment to look around the menu debating on what to get and then coming to a decision. Before ordering though, he looked at in Nienna's direction. "Have an idea of what you want yet?"

" Well, from my perspective anyway." She follows after him, curiously inspecting the cart that they stood before. She finds herself smiling a little, the scent of the food making her mouth water. " Everything seems so good I can scarcely decide..." She says continuing to inspect the menu. " Some egg rolls sound good. Maybe the Phoenix Nest too. Have you ever been to this stall before?" She asks. " I want to know what you think sounds good."

That was fair. Everyone had different tastes after all. He looked over at Nienna for a brief moment when she asked her question. “In passing a few times, yeah. They have good food for a decent price. Lovely to have once in a while, especially since everything is made on the spot.”, he said.
The bird man looked back at the menu and put a hand on his chin while thinking. All of these were good to eat, he’s tried most of what was on the menu, which wasn’t hard considering how few items there were on it. “You good if I make the order for you?”, he asked after figuring out something that Nienna might enjoy. Though, Soren was a little biased considering he’s had all of these and absolutely loved it all.
