Spell name: Terrain Alteration
Spell Main Element: Arcane
-Spell Sub Elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Metal, Flora, Shadow, Light, Chaos,
Affinity Strength: 7
Function: The caster performs a spell, unleashing mana around them in a large area and modifying the local area with magic and turning it into an environment more suitable for them based on their main elements. The area now changed provides them with conditions and resources to manipulate that would otherwise might not be there in such a large amount. Combinations of this spell can happen with multiple mages in one sitting, changing the environment totally into a strange hybrid but cannot form multiple conditions from one mage. This spell uses up 5 mana per post after it has been activated to keep going.
Availability: Open
Spell name: Cryo-manipulation
Spell Main Element: Water
-Spell Sub Elements: Ice
Affinity Strength: 4 (1 if starting with ice instead of water, 7 if this is your tertiary element)
Function: This is the main ability to control and manipulate liquids in their frozen state. Cryomages are capable of changing the physical appearance of ice, altering the shape to something best suited for the situation like icicles for attacking or a dense cloud of particulate snowflakes for hiding.
Availability: Open
Spell name: Water Darts
Spell Main Element: Water
-Spell Sub Elements: Ice
Affinity Strength: 3 at base
Function: Collecting water from the world around them, a Hydromancer thins them out into razer sharp points in the air. These needles can be launched freely at an enemy, piercing through thin armor and causing significant harm. Higher affinity levels can create more darts.
-Ice Darts: Similar function, but with the more rigid structure of ice.
Affinity - Number of Darts
3- 5
6- 10
9- 15
10- 20
Availability: Open
Spell name: Water Walking
Spell Main Element: Water
-Spell Sub Elements: Wind, Arcane
Affinity Strength: 1
Function: Using their latent abilities, the caster floats themselves above the surface of any body of water. Rougher conditions may make it harder for inexperienced mages, while more experienced casters could skate along its surface should they please. The ability takes very little focus and concentration, and for many is more a question of muscle memory.

Another day, another challenger. Confident. Youthful. Determined. A fairly promising up-and-comer. She was skilled, smart, definitely had the potential to slip into the honors class if she played her cards right. And so far she had, acing many of the exams she needed and gaining a lot of traction amongst the masses. Her one mistake was gunning right for number one.
The crowd roared and cheered as they watched the two students enter the arena. Stats on the board, terrain randomizer working it's magic. The freshman's attire definitely put more stock into aesthetics than usefulness. Not an abnormal trait. Form fitting, obviously accentuating the parts of herself she liked the most, or wanted others to like. Hard to tell when everyone was playing their own personal popularity contest. Isaah had long since stopped caring about putting on his combat gear.
"You know I've done a lot of research about you." She purred, getting no reaction out of the boy as the stage began to shift. Personally, Isaah hated the bullshit randomized terrain. It never effected the results, so whenever he was able to run with the flat field, he did so. The girl spun a crystal clear sword in one of her hands, eyeing the number one hungrily. The young man knew the look. It was clear the girl thought everything she studied about him was enough to get her a win. They all did.
Already students in the crowd were picking their sides. Most of them were choosing hers. That too didn't get any reaction from the young mage. As the top dog, he was seen as the Big Bad Boogieman. The one everyone feared but no one could combat. Isaah himself lost count of how many challengers he'd defeated. Though many respected his power, the guy didn't exactly have many fans. Besides, a lot of students liked seeing shake-ups in the status quo.
Seeing the king fall would definitely shake up the status quo.
Thin trees and bland mounds of rock pressed up out of the ground, giving many different vantage points and hiding spots. As the terrain shifted, the girl's confidence grew. Tactics flickered around along with her gaze as her gaze darted left and right, marking point after point. Isaah couldn't say she wasn't intelligent. She was smart, knew what spots to pick out and what would be perfect to use against him, but as the buzzer rang to start the fight he knew it was already over.
When someone told him they studied him, it really meant "I saw you crush that guy, so I think I know how to counter you." Which was mostly on purpose. Mostly. Unlike Damien or any of the other big ten, the young mage wasn't flashy with his fights. He got them done quickly and with little mercy. Raging Leviathan was a devastatingly powerful spell, strong enough to carve through the earth itself. So, of course it was his go-to to clean things up nice and quick.
That left a lot in his back pocket.
As the girl darted off to flank him, Isaah swept the field. Not for her, but to take stock of the terrain itself. Raising a hand, the only thought that came to mind was; This definitely won't do. It was obvious the crowd expected Leviathan to burst free, but what they got instead stunned them to silence.
Earth rumbled as the ground quaked and shuddered. Specs and bubbles of mana pried themselves free from the soil around him, shifted, and condensed into water. Isaah clenched his fist and drew it to his chest. What followed was an eruption of water, shattering some of the boulders and swirling around the field. Massive waves rushed to fill the gaps, battering against trees, rocks, and crags. Before a wave consumed him, Isaah saw a chunk fade from the board as the girl's aura was battered.
On the opposite side of that, Isaah allowed the water to envelop him, like a gentle hug. It lacked warmth, but it had weight. It's gentle flow always brought him some semblance of calm. The young man wished he could take the time to enjoy it. Unfortunately, his challenger was still in the fight.
Rising like a rocket, the young man breached the surface and settled upon it. Orbs of water pulled free of his clothes and hair, instead orbiting him defensively. Some of the rocks peaked above the water line. Tiny islands in a new lake. A desperate gasp caught his attention from behind one, and immediately Isaah spun to face it. Now it was time for the tried and true.
Water bubbled and thrashed, disturbing the surface as it began to roil angrily. Like a conductor leading his orchestra, Isaah's hands danced in the air. Green eyes shifted to an icy blue as his heart took control of the water around him. Condensed it. Gave it form. And as it's shape grew, the raging water bared its fangs. Ever flowing, ever falling, the serpentine shape sounded as though it was hissing and roaring without having lungs of its own to make such a sound. It was almost enough to drown out the boos from the crowd.
Coiling itself around Isaah, the young man took one last glace at his opponent as she stood upon her tiny island. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Surrounded by the element Isaah had all but mastered, there was no escape. But as the raging leviathan crashed down towards the girl, there was no fear in her eyes. Like a jolt of electricity, realization hit the young man as his eyes shot open.
Far too late.
Ice exploded out from her rock, claiming all of the terrain Isaah had just created, and solidifying the leviathan, locking it in place. Panting, shaking, the girl let out a small chuckle. Someone in the crowd shouted for the challenger to crush Isaah. Another said to make him cry. Some asshole told her to break his legs. Fucking college students.
After recovering from the momentary surprise, the honors student regained his composure. Seizing on the opportunity, the girl spoke. "Any last words before I take number one from you, number two?" The bite might have stung a bit more if the boy actually gave half a shit. Though, somewhere in the crowd he could feel Damien seething. The thought of the egomaniac raging against being bumped to third place almost made Isaah smile. Almost.
The young woman waited a few moments, then a few moments longer. It was almost cute that she was genuinely waiting for Isaah to say something. When she realized he wasn't going to, the girl almost appeared disappointed. "Hmph. Fine. Have it your way." She hissed. Recollecting into a combat stance, the girl swung her palm upwards, sending with it a wave of sharpened spikes. The crowd cheered, excited to see what would happen next. Excited to see his defeat, his fall.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Closer and closer the spires barreled towards him. A tired sigh escaped the honors student's lips. A split second before the spikes reached him, Isaah swung his hand up, palm forwards, fingers splayed.
The spikes halted.
Silence descended upon the crowd.
For a moment, the boy had the urge to say something. To apologize. To insult her. Reprimand her. Something. But he bit it back. He was neither their monster nor their friend. He wasn't their demon. He wasn't a charismatic hero like the others. Isaah just wanted to be left alone. The girl pushed against Isaah's control. The young man could feel the press, the weight of her mana against his. But to him, it felt like a toddler pushing up against a brick wall.
Cryomanipulation against hydromanipulation. In theory it was smart. Unfortunately, she didn't expect him to also control ice. The moment she registered he wasn't just using the water but was using the ice itself, a brief flush of fear crossed her expression. Isaah closed his hand into a fist, shattering the spires. Merging into one another, twenty fragments circled around the boy. Twenty fragments, glimmering under the arena lights, sharpened themselves into fine, razor sharp points.
Up came the boy's free hand. The girl's gaze snapped back to the frozen leviathan as the statuesque form groaned, rumbled, and cracked. Steam howled out of the cracks as more and more formed. Chunks of ice fell away, replaced by boiling, churning water. Before the girl could put up a defense against the Leviathan, the frozen darts hammered into her side, throwing her off balance. The girl's blue eyes turned to meet Isaah's, fear filling them as she was consumed by the boiling mass. In a second, the weight of the raging water crushed the girl flat against her little island, flatlining her aura.
The crowd which had just chanted for his downfall moments prior now fell silent. All magic dissipated and with a blare of a horn, victory was declared. Again. Isaah watched as the terrain shifted back to normal, leaving the former challenger coughing and sputtering on the floor. She'd survive.
When he first came to the school, the young man would give bits of advice to his challengers. Help them up, brush them off, compliment their skill. Now all he did was turn his back and leave. He knew how much they all hated him. The boy was an undefeated king amongst his peers, which was usually something to be praised and admired. But because of Damien, because of his common birth, all he got was disapproving looks and eyes that glared daggers. At the very least, they had enough courtesy not to boo him as he left. They could wait until after the doors closed for that.
Final Word Count: 1624
